General
Fort Lee Therapy offers couples therapy, family therapy, individual therapy, psychoeducational evaluations with school-based advocacy, first responder counseling, and sport performance therapy. All services are provided at the Englewood, NJ office, with telehealth available for New Jersey residents.
Yes, teletherapy sessions are available for all New Jersey residents via a secure, HIPAA-compliant video platform. Telehealth is available for therapy services. Psychoeducational evaluations require in-person sessions.
Standard therapy sessions are 45-50 minutes. Initial intake sessions are typically 60 minutes. Psychoeducational evaluation sessions vary in length depending on the assessments being administered and are scheduled individually.
Couples Therapy
The duration of couples therapy varies based on the complexity of the issues and the goals of each couple. Some couples see meaningful progress in 8-12 sessions. Others may benefit from longer-term work, especially when processing significant relationship events. A preliminary timeline is discussed after the initial assessment.
It is common for one partner to be more motivated than the other at the start. We create a nonjudgmental environment designed to help both partners feel heard. If one partner is not ready, individual therapy can be a productive starting point.
Family Therapy
Family therapy often begins with the whole family, but we may recommend shifting to include specific family members as treatment progresses. The goal is to address the dynamics that affect the family as a whole while respecting each member's experience.
Psychoeducational Evaluations
A school district evaluation, conducted by the Child Study Team, is designed primarily to determine eligibility for special education services. An independent psychoeducational evaluation is typically more comprehensive, assessing cognitive ability, academic achievement, attention, executive functioning, and social-emotional factors. The independent evaluation often provides a more detailed profile of a child's strengths and challenges and may be used to advocate for specific accommodations in IEP or 504 planning.
A full psychoeducational evaluation typically requires 6-8 hours of face-to-face assessment time, scheduled across 2-3 sessions to minimize fatigue. Following testing, results are analyzed and compiled into a comprehensive written report, which is reviewed during a feedback conference with parents. The full process from intake to report delivery typically takes 3-4 weeks.
Yes. School advocacy is a core part of the evaluation service at Fort Lee Psych. We attend IEP and 504 meetings to present evaluation findings, explain recommendations to school personnel, and advocate for appropriate accommodations and services. This is included in the evaluation service.
Yes. A current psychoeducational evaluation documenting a learning disability, attention disorder, or other qualifying condition can be used to apply for testing accommodations through the College Board (SAT) or ACT. The evaluation report is designed to include the specific documentation these organizations typically require.
